Raising Awareness and equipping for Engagement
Debunk what depression is and isn't, with helpful information and education on treatment options. This is for anyone who knows someone struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, or who is struggling with it themselves. Those struggling are not alone, not terrible people, or hopeless causes. Come and know you are heard, understood and take a step towards the hope that there is a way out.

Dr. Rohan Kedar
Physiological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of depression and its causes
Dr. Kedar was raised with a Christian background but did not attend church. On April 5th, 2012, he gave his life to Jesus after hearing a Gospel message. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he studied Political Science and Spanish, and immediately went to medical school as part of the first class at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. He is now a second-year resident at St. Mary Mercy's Psychiatry residency.
Janice Parker, MSN, RN-BC
Suicide risk and prevention
Janice Parker has been a registered nurse for over 45 years, during half of which she has served psychiatric patients. She works at Ascension Borgess Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Educator, specializing in Behavioral Health. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing after the age of 60. She is nationally board-certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing. She published an article in an international nursing journal about caring for opioid-addicted patients in the psychiatric setting. Her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren live with her and fill her life with great joy. She believes Jesus Christ is her personal Savior.
Carrie Hays, RN, MA
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)
Carrie Hays is a registered nurse with a Master of Arts in Family Studies. She has spent the last five years working with chronically and critically ill children and their families as a care coordinator. This work led to an interest in Adverse Childhood Experiences and how trauma early in life can affect our health over our lifespan. Carrie will share about how to recognize Adverse Childhood Experiences, how trauma can affect your health, and how to minimize the effects of trauma in your and your family’s lives.
Dr. Elmira Yessengaliyeva
Treatment options
Dr. Yessengaliyeva previously lived in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She studied at Kazakh National Medical University and Lansing Community College. She was previously a Fellow at Stanford University and worked at Ascension Borgess and MSU/KCMS Psychiatry in Kalamazoo, and is currently an assistant professor in the psychiatry department at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
Stacey Davis, MA, LPC, NCC
Strategies to fight depression
Stacey Davis believes that therapy is a journey: a choice to make a purposeful life change, and with the love and hope of Jesus Christ, that change is possible. Therapy is a process and what you bring into it is important. She has a passion for working with families and believes that each person in the family is interconnected with one another. She has worked with families, children, and couples in many different settings, including residential, in-home, and outpatient. She’s a trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapist bringing over 15 years of experience into her practice at Joy Unlimited Counseling Center.

Healing and Restoration
Bill and Marilee Menser love Jesus and love people. Their mission is to encourage others to follow God wholeheartedly, find complete freedom from sin, and live up to their fullest potential in Christ. They have two wonderful kids and serve in many capacities at New Day Community Church. For the past five years, they have led New Day’s Healing & Restoration ministry, helping people pray through heart and relationship issues.
