Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for considering being our guest!

You'll find New Day family-friendly, kind-hearted, and genuinely devoted to faith in Jesus.
Every Christian church offers different strengths and benefits. Each one has its own "personality" as well. There are about 250 churches in the greater Kalamazoo area. Finding a church where you can be fully invested can be a challenging task. We hope the information below will help you make a Spirit-led and well-informed decision.

What happens on a typical Sunday?

Sunday services begin at 10:00 AM. We start with about 30 minutes of contemporary worship music. We begin our services with worship because we believe that a primary purpose for gathering together is to express our appreciation of God and thank Him for all that he has done for us. Following the time of singing, our MC shares a few brief announcements and the opportunity to worship God through financial giving. Then Pastor Bill, Pastor Marilee or a member of our rotating Teaching Team will share a message from the Bible on a topic that connects with real life. Our Sunday services normally end by 11:30 AM, concluding with an option to receive prayer ministry.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code at New Day. You are free to dress in whatever manner you feel comfortable to worship. Many people dress casual to business casual, but jeans and t-shirts are as welcome as a suit and tie.

What about my kids?

We provide nursery and children’s classes during Sunday morning service for kids 6 months - 5th grade. Sign in your child(ren) at their classroom when you arrive, if you wish for them to attend class. If you prefer, you are welcome to have them stay with you during the entire service. There is also a Mother's Room by the nursery where you can feed your baby.

What kind of church (denomination) is New Day?

We are a non-denominational church, but we are not anti-denominational. We believe that every church that has Jesus Christ as Lord and the Bible as its foundation is genuine. Different denominations (i.e. Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, etc.) all represent various emphases upon truths that God has revealed throughout Church history. So we feel every church has something to offer. A pastor friend of mine says there is one church in Kalamazoo, with many “branch offices.” But to help clarify what type of church we are this description may be helpful: We are non-denominational evangelical, charismatic Bible-based local church that believes the Bible to be the sole authoritative source for doctrine.

How big is New Day?

Sunday services currently average 100 people attending in-person. This makes us much smaller than some churches where you may feel lost in the crowd, yet large enough to offer amenities like a full worship band, complete children’s ministry, and multiple pastoral staff. Our sense is that the Lord will grow New Day in the months to come, but our goal is to remain family-oriented, warm, and welcoming no matter how many of us gather on Sundays. A key aspect of the Christian church in this day and age is to provide personal connection and community in a society growing more isolated and lonely. We think you'll find that kind of connection at New Day.

When and where do you meet for services?

Join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM at 3600 Nichols Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Mid-week connections happen at Thursday Night Prayer,  Community Groups and other Ministries which connect people and support spiritual growth. We intentionally leave margin in our schedule to add in the occasional special meeting or event. We also promote living at a sustainable pace that prevents burnout and leaves room for abiding with Jesus in personal times of prayer, Bible reading, etc.
