Part 1 | I Pledge Allegiance
The word allegiance means to give your loyalty, support, and commitment - to give a cause or country higher value than yourself. By such loyalty, many patriots have fought and died to protect their countrymen. But only one man died to protect us all from the effects of sin and death. Jesus committed himself to the cause of redeeming humanity. The only proper response is to commit our lives to him in return. In this series, we will consider how to pledge allegiance to Jesus as King. We will consider what it looks like to value his kingdom above all else, especially in light of the pressure to align ourselves with political causes and candidates. “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).
