The oak tree pictured below resides on the south inner loop of New Day Nature Trails. Vines previously strangled this tree. It was bent over with the top touching the ground. Now this oak stands straight (with a little help). We can’t wait to see it become a mighty oak on our walking trail for years to come.
Our plans for the fall include planting more trees! We have 34 flowering trees alive and well from the spring planting (mostly along the North and East edges of the trail system). Now plans are coming together for adding pine and oak trees in the South section. We also have some more invasive species treatments and site clean up work in store over the next couple of months.
Our trail work days in August and September went great! We clipped roots and removed small stumps from the trail. The plan is to keep doing work days like this in the future. Every little improvement adds up over time. What a joy to care for the slice of creation God has given New Day Community Church. I love taking care of it and sharing it with my neighbors and church family. God Bless, Pastor Bill.
