The New Day Nature Trails restoration project continues in 2024! Our restoration contractor recently did trail-smoothing and stump-cutting work. Then the DNR planted a mixture of native species on our two berms near the parking lot trailhead and clover on every square foot of trail. Clover is our plan to differentiate the trails from the prairie and wooded areas. Rather than install pavement, gravel, mulch, or similar materials, the walking paths will be all-natural, packed down by our own feet and surrounded by clover. We have awarded the restoration work for 2024, as well. This work will consist of planting native species, monthly mowings, and herbicide treatments to keep fighting off the invasive species.
The project is transitioning from invasive elimination to native species planting and cultivation! It’s going to be so beautiful! May the glory and goodness of God speak through this little part of His creation. Please enjoy the trails, chat with a neighbor, and know that New Day is here for you. If you’re looking for a church, have questions about Christianity, or need someone to talk to, please reach out or stop by Sundays at 10:00. ~ Pastor Bill
