NDNT: November 29, 2022

Phase 1 of our project is complete. The invasives have been removed and/or treated. So much space is opened up for what will become prairie and woodland areas. We can see the beauty that is to come in the near future! Also, oat grass seed has been broadcast and will come up in the spring. The oats are a temporary planting that are used to compete with any invasives that pop back up.

We are very happy to say that the DNR will continue to partner with New Day Community Church in 2023! Next year, a major focus will be spot treating invasives that sprout. The oats will help limit how many come back. If all goes really well, we could be planting wildflowers and native species this time next year to blossom in 2024. We can’t wait to see the beauty this land has to offer as it gets healthy and native species get well established.

Please continue to enjoy the property as this restoration project continues. We are delighted to care for this slice of God’s beautiful creation and share it with our neighbors!
